Nor'easter & Storm Debris Guide

Southeastern Pennsylvania sees two distinct storm seasons that generate real debris cleanup work: summer severe thunderstorms that can drop limbs and damage roofs with little warning, and winter nor'easters that bring heavy, wet snow and ice that snap branches under their own weight. Here's how we plan around both.

Summer thunderstorm debris: fast-moving, localized

A severe summer thunderstorm can take down limbs and occasionally full trees in a narrow band, often with very little lead time. Same-day delivery matters most here — if a storm just came through, call before noon on a weekday and we'll usually get a container to you that afternoon.

Nor'easter debris: heavier, wetter, more widespread

A winter nor'easter typically affects a much wider area at once, and wet snow or ice-laden branches are considerably heavier than the same volume of dry storm debris. That changes the sizing math — a load that looks moderate by volume can run heavy, so tell us if the debris has been wet or ice-covered when you call.

Sizing for storm cleanup

Most residential storm-debris jobs — downed limbs, damaged fencing, minor roof debris — fit a 15 or 20 yard. A larger wooded property out in Willistown, Birmingham or East Bradford Township with more extensive tree damage often needs a 30 yard.

Roof damage from storms

A storm-damaged roof tear-off is sized the same way as a standard roof replacement, with one added wrinkle: storm-soaked shingles weigh noticeably more than dry ones. If your roofer is working from an insurance claim timeline, tell us and we'll try to match delivery and pickup to that schedule.

What to expect during a widespread event

When a major storm hits a wide area at once, every dumpster company's schedule gets busier than usual. We'd rather tell you honestly that same-day isn't realistic during a widespread event than promise something our trucks can't deliver safely on damaged roads.

Mixing storm debris with regular yard waste

It's fine to combine ordinary yard waste with storm debris in the same container. If the load is large enough to need its own dedicated container, a separate yard-waste dumpster keeps the material easier to divert for mulching.
